Excerpts from A Mother’s Wisdom :
…Respect each of your kids as an individual, and LOVE each one as an individual, and whatever you do as a parent from there on out will be fine.
…As a mother and grandmother, the love I have for my children and grandchildren continues on and I know that love will continue for generations to come.
…Gratitude serves as another way of showing how much we appreciate others for who they are and for what they do.
…There are two stages to my life: B.C.: Before Children and A.C.: After Children.
…What wisdom she (a mother) shares with you comes from deep down in her heart because a mother’s love is always there.
…Remember, what you focus on you bring to you. Too many times we focus on the lack in our lives rather than the abundance we have.
…I believe helping my children discover something to be passionate about, and teaching them not to fear success, is my greatest gift to them.
…When you find a good friend hold on to them, keep in touch with them because true friends are hard to find.
…As a young mom, I never would’ve believed my kids would’ve survived this long. If the incurable diseases hadn’t gotten them, it was the other challenges that could’ve done them in.
…Stay focused on the moment. Let go of the past. Don’t worry about the future
…As boys become men, you get a glimpse of what you have helped to shape.
…I’ll be honest with you; it (life) isn’t always going to be easy. But that’s okay, nothing worthwhile is ever effortless.
…However, there is one huge piece of cleaning wisdom that’s been carefully handed down from mother to daughter for generations, which I follow to the letter.
… 9. Tell your children you’re proud of them; they can’t hear it enough.
…My job is to take back my power rather than give it to others.
…I have loved having two daughters; the process of raising them taught me a lot about myself and life.
…Children have unique perspectives on the world... (My son) carried onto the plane his own Little Tykes toy airplane, which I thought was adorable. It wasn't until he looked at me in somber seriousness and explained that I understood his reasoning: “I brought this airplane in case the pilot needs another one.”"
…Live each day to the fullest as the gift it is and embrace it.
…I thought if I spent enough time with my children, they would love music, or be great athletes, or great scholars. I even thought I could teach a child to be cheerful. How naïve of me.
…My firstborn, my gift. An unexpected blessing safe in my glad heart….Did I think I’d love the second less than the first? Was I that silly?...
…What isn’t fair about life? Well…everything.
…I learned early on to make the most of each situation.
…Okay, now it was my turn at parenthood. My son had just turned fourteen and I was being paid back in a huge way for the drama I had brought to the table when I was that age.
…Furthermore, save your sweetest and gentlest self for your spouse, if you do marry, and for all of those who are closest to you.
…W hat I learned from my children, and augmented by my grandchildren, is the true meaning of unconditional love.
…Be thankful for what you have. I once heard a Holocaust survivor say, “Be thankful for the dirty dishes in your sink. It means you have someplace to live and you’ve had something to eat.”
…Believe in the beauty and potential of ALL!! Hold fast to your inner wisdom and TRUST your intuition. BELIEVE and know how sacred LOVE and LIFE are.
